New Artist Spotlight: ReKaSte

A friend recommended I check out this trio of music producers from NYC who are making noise in VA. So I went to their website www.ReKaSte.com and listened to some of their stuff. No I'm not the Roger Ebert of music, but I fancy myself a good gage of musical & artistic talent.
I can honestly say, outside of the first time I heard a 9th Wonder beat on Little Brother's Minstrel Show, and Kanye's sound on College Dropout, I haven't heard as refreshing a sound coming out of the hip hop world since the golden era 90's.
Their sound is unique. It gives a certain feeling that compliments whatever vocals are on top of it like they were made for each other. I'm really feeling the R.K.S. vibe.

I been gone for a minute. I started grad school so I haven't had as much blog time.

I heard bout 4 tracks yesterday on 2dopeboyz Blog and they were on POINT so I'm optimistic.

 I got that new new ¡MAYDAY! called "They Told Me (REMIX Feat. Noreaga)." This song is fire. I love this group. They bring a sound different than wut you would expect from Miami artists. I really hope they blow up in the industry. They deserve to. Enjoy!

RIP Marvin Gaye

Today marks the 26th anniversary of the great Marvin Gaye's untimely murder.
In my eyes, Marvin, along with Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway; were the greatest singers of the 20th century and of recent memory.
Here's a VERY eerie video of a 70s telecast interview with the Late Marvin Gaye and his father, the man that killed him just a day before what would've been his 45th birthday. Watch:

It's fascinating to me to see a man kiss on the cheek the one who would betray him, almost as Jesus did Judas. Sad sad story.
