Coach Says Blogger Highlight Series: The UNjealous

This is the second installment in a series of posts about fellow bloggers I've found interesting on the net. Stewart Cornelius of The Book of UNJEALOUS gave us a few minutes to discuss his blog. Here's our conversation:
*CS - Coach Says
*SC - Stew Cornelius

CS: Let's start by you giving everybody a little background about yourself
SC: Well I was born in NY moved to MD when I was 12. I went to a mostly white high school but had a dope ass high school experience. The people were lovely! I left there and went to the A for school. I didn't want to go to Morehouse at first but, looking back that was the best decision I ever made. I'm a business marketing major and I'm getting my specialty masters degree in fashion marketing. My dream job would be to work for Nike. I'm a laid back dude, I clown around a lot but I can be serious when the situation calls for it.

CS: What made you decide to make The Book of UNJEALOUS?
SC: I really decided to do it cause I started to notice that a lot of the people I hung out with collectively made up a lot of slang and people never knew what the hell we were talking about. I also made it because people always get mad or sad about things that are that terrible. I wanted people to have an outlet that they can come to and catch something funny or uplifting. I want people to appreciate the "UNjealous" and forget about the "Jealous."

CS: What do you want to get across with your blog?
SC: I want to get people to the point where they'll learn how not take life so seriously all the time. I also want people to get a sense of the kind of man I am. That's why I have links to shows I like and funny videos.

CS: Could you explain what "TheJealous" and "TheUNJealous" are?
SC: "The Jealous" is any unfavorable thing that happens in life. When they tow your car, that's the jealous. When you lose your phone in the club, that's the jealous. Basically anything bad. "The UNjealous" is any situation or thing that is favorable. If you got the job of your dreams, that's the UNjealous. If you find a $100 in your jeans pocket, that's the UNJealous! And the UNjealous is the focal point people need to learn how to enjoy and appreciate the UNjealous.

CS: How did you come up with those words/phrases?
SC: "The Jealous" came from this African Brother on Youtube named Tulu. He had a series of video or Vlogs if you will where his phrase was "Don't Jealous Me" in these videos he would describe a series of bad things that would happen to him. From then on whenever something bad happened A.Samp (Alex Sampson of A.Samp Was Right Blog) and I would just start calling it "The Jealous." lol

CS: Where do you want to go with your blog in the future?
SC: I just want it to be a place people can visit regularly for a laugh or two. Maybe when I start my t-shirt company people might even consider buying my shirts. But that's not the main goal. The goal is to get people to come through just like they would do with Twitter or there favorite magazine sites.

CS: Other than the blog do you want to try any other media outlets in the future?
SC: I hope to start doing short films in my spare time. I used to do it in high school and its always been a passion of mine to go back to it as a form of media.

CS: Who would you want to interview for your blog if you could pick anyone? Dead or Alive.
SC: Wow thats a rough question. It would probably be Dave Chappelle. He's had a huge impact on my sense of humor and because of that its only fair that I interview him.

CS: What would you ask him?
SC: Besides when the hell is he coming back? What was it like having that show? Besides the pressure, what were the good times like, because he kept America laughing. I would also wanna know what made him choose comedy because he's an intelligent guy and his jokes usually have some political value.

CS: What other blogs do you like?
SC: Usually my friends' blogs: A.Samp Was Right Blog, Coach Says Blog, MediaTakeout is cool, Fashionising.comFashionising, and Chinese Society Blog. That's about it. I check out people I'm familiar with because it's a chance to see whats in there mind and I appreciate that.

CS: What do you want people to take from your blog?
SC: The one thing I want people to take away from the blog is how to appreciate the good things that happen in their lives, and be thankful for their blessings. Its hard to do when bullshit happens but I promise they'll be a better person for it.

CS: Any other things you want to say?
SC: I hope people just enjoy the blog and agree with some of the things I have to say. Even if they don't, I still hope that they take away the main message, which is to enjoy the good events in life and forget the bad.
